update!

Wow, I have to update more often. Anyways, it's been a fun time since the last time I updated. Dad's still being anal about everything. Now that my sister scratched the car, he won't let me drive myself around (in my own neighbourhood) to pick up and do stuff on formal day. He's making my grandpa drive me around. It sometimes feels like he doens't really respect my grandparents, and treats them more like accessories sometimes. He went off on this whole rant about how I "assumed" I would be driving on formal day around (because both parents, abby and my grandma are going to abby's convocation). I mean, what else am I supposed to assume?! I ASSUMED that if you let me drive to school and take the car, and also let my sister and I drive around when both of you (parents) weree off in cuba, then driving to Bridlewood Mall wouldn't be such a big deal. Whatever, I'm just sick of it.
Music banquet on friday was a pretty nice break. Tons of fun stuff, dancing, awards and just hanging out with my bubs. If anyone wants specific pictures that I took, just message me or leave a comment and I'll do my best to send them to you. I really liked my hair during music banquet, it was all curly and not in my face like in grade 10. I'm definitely going back next year as alumni, it would be great to talk to old friends again. I'm planning on going to Macmaster next year, I already accepted my offer, but I still need to submit the residence/meal plan forms and also that $600 deposit. Hehehehe....Athletic's Banquet is tomorrow, can't wait for that. It's going to be about the same type of thing as music banquet but with less people that I know. There's going to be a dance which will hopefully be a lot of fun.

Formal's coming up on thursday, which is going to make this week a 3-day week, which is awesome, and I really REALLY can't wait! I have everything ready! I got the dress, the jewelry, the accessories, the shoes, booked all the appointments for hair/makeup/manicure, and my date =P. Plus I'm not going home until the next day, so it's going to be great being away from here for even one night. Next week's going to be killer though. Loads and loads of tests in the three sciences, I really can't wait for those.
Off topic: Alan and Khash told me that this creepy dude next to me sniffed my hair when I was getting off the bus. Thaat is just...creepy...really really creepy! I mean, eewww... Another creepy thing that happened was when I was walking home. The rain was really coming down and when I was walking, in three separate times, a male driver would be driving passed me, break, stare at me, and keep going. *shiver*

Just three more months...

Things at home have been pretty rough lately. Nothing interesting or fun have happened in this house for a long while now (maybe a month?). It mostly revolves around my dad and his grouchiness. I mean, the slightest thing you say to him can set him off on a total lecture or rampage around the house. I said the word "gosh" once and he went off forever on how I didn't respect him or our family because I didn't take what he said as a joke. Today, he doesn't even say hi when he came home, the first thing he said was "why didn't you put away the garbage can?! I had to do it myself!". I mean...a hi would be nice every once in a while...and he says that I'm disrespectful. I think subconsciously the reason I dyed my hair was to piss off my dad, try to tell him that I'm fed up with his teenage attitude with everything. He's so sensitive and never thinks he is wrong about anything. I know I've ranted about him before, but this is what I use my blog for: ranting. I watched Star Wars on Sunday, it was alright, except for the horrible love scenes. "Oh Ani! Hug me like you used to on Naboo!". No one is going to take that seriously. I think the major thing in the movie was that Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman has no chemistry together. Also, Christensen is a pretty bad actor. His angry face is the same as his happy face; his sad face is the same as his excited face; etc. Natalie Portman isn't that bad of an actor, I heard that she was pretty good in Garden State (I think she got an Oscar nomination for that movie, not too sure on that). ***I just came back from dinner and it was one of the most tense and unhappy ones ever. Dad being really unreasonable, just trying to be "calm" but obviously mad at something. I think it has something to do with something on monday when my sister accidentally bumped a guy in his bumper and "scratched" it. I mean, I looked at that guy's blue honda civic and it looked fine to me. Anyways, they went today to the mechanic dude to pay for the repairs. However, it might also be because of my dyed hair and me not telling him I have a date for formal (and possibly sleeping over at tiff's) that might've made him unhappy. This is starting to get so immature. I'm getting fed up with him. It's no use arguing with him, either he sends you on a long, neverending guilt trip or he just starts yelling at you for the most unrelated things. Just three more months and I'm out of this house.

Socials

May is almost over meaning banquets and prom!
I can't wait for all of them but I still have so much to do before then. Like, this week I am fully loaded on crap to do, but my parents aren't going to be here for the weekend so it'll give me some time to relax and hang out with people.
Music Banquet's (May 27) going to be awesome for sure...well, I hope anyways. Got my dress, its pink and pretty. Got it for $50 at Kensington Market at the Japanese Import Store (or I think it's the Japanese Import Store anyways) called Bubblegum. It's really pretty, but I have no idea what to accessorize with it!
Athletic's Banquet (May 31)finally looks appealing this year because of the dance. I don't know if WAA even has the badminton list for the people who paid for the banquet. I know half of the team didn't so the list wasn't handed to the WAA to check us off for tickets yet. I got this really adorable ballerina like dress that Abby found in her closet. It's pretty plain but it's something that I can definitely build on. Oh, by the way, if anyone have cute white shoes (size 7.5 or 8) can I borrow them for Atheltic's banquet? Because that would be totally awesome.
Formal (June 2) is definitely something I can't wait for. I mean, it's supposed to be the biggest night of the year for grads! I hope people don't "dumb" it up but I won't be surprised if some did. It's a lot of fun just taking the day off, dressing up, doing makeup, getting there in fancy cars and having an awesome after party.
Until then, must keep working my ass off...or find some kind of motivation to work my ass off.

Sidenote: never eat too much during totm, gives you cramps.

After Effects

Alright, I weighed myself this morning and I have officially gained 5 lbs from last week. FIVE POUNDS IN ONE WEEK?! Yes yes, people have been saying that I should gain weight and such but this is just insane. I guess I've finally reached that point in my life where I just can't eat whatever I want, not do exercise and NOT gain weight. Ah well, just gotta work extra hard to get myself back on track with my body. This weekend has been killer with homework and studying for all three sciences. It really bothers me how much crap I have to study. Anyways, nothing else to really talk about so I'm gonna go run a couple of kilometers on the treadmill.

Queens: Day 5 and 6

Alright, so today is the LAST day at Queens! I'm so sad! Today wasn't all too exciting but it was nice to just spend time in class. I learnt about balistics, self-defence, cancer and fingerprinting. The rest of the day was spent going downtown one last time and I bought myself a Zero bar. It's supposedly "full of cool" but I still think it tastes like a Lindt chocolate, but cubed. Tonight was also the the MuchMusic Video Dance and I thought it sucked ass. The music was really bad and out of the 2 hours of possible dancing, I only danced 30 minutes, and that wasn't because of the music, but because I came there to dance so I did. Right now I'm packing and it's a little sad that it's over. I really don't think I'm ready for school JUST yet.
* * *

Today was the last day of the Queens trip and I had to wake up extra early to take a shower and finish packing. We went to class for half the day and got our Nalgene bottles and barbeque tokens. The very last class were the presentations for the case studies that we got at the beginning of the week and I think our case group did pretty well. Afterwards, there were prizes that the instructor was giving away. Individual prizes for the CSI: Fact or Fiction thing where we had to list 20 things that were false about the CSI show. I got first place for that and I won a free shirt! Before that last class, I got my Nalgene bottle (it was blue and sweet!) and my token and during that last class, the instructor said, "if you haven't gotten your nalgene bottle yet, just come up at the end of class and pick one up." So I ended up with two nalgene bottles =). I should've taken another bbq token too because the token only gives you one hamburger. One measly hamburger (+coke, + chips). The bus ride back was pretty killer. Since the bus circulates the air already inside it, I got a little dizzy after watching Dawn of the Dead on my computer probably because of that reason. Another kid squished into the two seater on the bus and I think I ran out of air or something because I started getting really woozy. I actually told the kid who squished in that if he sat there for another 5 minutes I was going to puke and he left =). I coudln't finish watching the movie and decided to sleep for the last hour of the bus ride. Got back home and it sort of seemed like I never left, that's the worst feeling ever after you come back from a nice trip or vacation. It sucked because once I got out of the bus, I dumped my stuff into the car trunk and ran into the school to get my three humungous science text books. *Sigh* I hate school with a passion right now. I'm a little bit sad that I probably will never go back to Kingston for a very very long time because I won't go back for EMC nor am I going there for university.
Speaking of university, today was the last day to accept my offers to Queens and University of Ottawa. My mind is probably set on MacMaster. I went to the open house last saturday and the campus was actually pretty close together. After coming back from Kingston where the air is fresh, I thought Toronto smelt like crap. Literally. I mean, I thought Hamilton smelled better than TO. Hard to say it, but I think it's true.

Queens: Day 4

Wow! I can't believe tomorrow is going to be the last full day of Queens! I don't think I'm ready to go back to reality yet and do all this shit that I haven't done (tests, homework, the usual). Today was one of my laziest days here in Queens. Ivan, Khash and I finally finished watching Pulp Fiction (it took us three days) because every time we start the movie in the main common room, 20 minutes later other loud obnoxious people would come in and then we can't hear the sounds from the laptop anymore. We got really desperate today so we actually went outside and finished watching the last 30 minutes. I would've just watched it myself if I knew that it took that much trouble just to watch a movie. Speaking of trouble, I got one of the supervisor guys really mad at me today. Ivan wanted to use my laptop to check his email and chat with certain people so I went down to the second level (I'm on level three) and gave it to him. No one else was there except for him and Khash because the cruise trip was today. So I took Ivan's gameboy, sat beside the doors to the stairway and played tetris. No one was complaining, not even Mr. Grigg until Sean came up and was like "you HAVE to leave right now". He wouldn't even let me stand outside in the stairwell, saying it was a "fire hazard". Fire hazard my ass! Yes, if the fire alarm goes off, I'm going to somehow get in everybody's way and not try to get out myself. I mean, even if I did stand there, I probably wouldn't be much of an obstruction anyways.
The lectures today were pretty awesome except I literally fell asleep for the last lecture..which I totally didn't want to do because he was talking about the brain and I probably could have used that information for this upcoming biology test. Our class got to examine plastinated organs and also watch a video of a real autopsy. The thing that I remember the most from today was what this pathologist assistant said in his lecture: "the hardest part is the first incision because before that, it looks like a body on a table. After that, it's just a bunch of organs and you don't see the person as a human anymore." I thought that was pretty true, I remember it was hard for me to cut into that adorable little pig fetus at first in grade 11 biology.
Tomorrow is the Much Music Video Dance and I'm kindof excited. I'm sure it's going to be fun but hey, there's going to be hordes of dumb white chicks there so I'll probably just hang back a little. I don't really hang out with the girls that much for the past week in Queens so I'll probably end up sitting in the bleachers with the guys. Today after class, I finally finished downloading Bend It Like Beckham and I thought it was hilarious! Now I know why Neena keeps laughing everytime someone mentions that movie (Neena! Don't be mad at me!)
By the way, I still have Ivan's gameboy. Muahahaha!!

Queens: Day 3

Wow! We are now half way through our Queens trip and I actually have to admit I'm having a good time. Found out about another test back at Woburn so I guess I have to use this noggin' of mine and cram some chemistry, physics AND biology into it. Today, the lectures were a little bit boring. I fell asleep in almost all of them at one point or another. The lectures were all about the same really: gene therapy, genetics, genetic diseases, etc. So all of the lectures overlapped each other in information at one point or another. Nothing really awesome happened today really. After class, a bunch of us went downtown again. I really think I'm gaining the Freshman 15 in advance because I'm starting to feel a little heavy around the stomach area. I haven't really done much running because I rerolled my ankle, and since breakfast and dinner are buffets and there is delicious ice cream being served all the time, I haven't exactly watched what I ate. There is so much I need to catch up on after this trip. The first thing being school work, second thing being getting back into shape. It's almost the end of the year and Mr. Acomb is going to make us to the beep test again for Racquets Sports. The beep test is essentially running across the gym according to a beep. The beeps get closer and closer together and there are certain stages. I think Mr. Acomb is assuming I can get to a level 8 or something, but right now from what I know my cardio strength to be, I think the best I can do is a level 4. I really can't wait for this lecture tomorrow called The Autopsy, I probably mentioned that I had it today or something but I was wrong. It's tomorrow and I'm excited. I just hope I don't accidentally fall asleep again.

Queens: Day 2

Wow! The first day of my Hands-On Pathology course was frikkin awesome! But before I get to that, I would like to mention to everyone who is planning to go to Queens next year and is staying at the dorms that the beds are extremely uncomfortable, so bring a foamy thing or something. I'm sure the beds in other universities are the same so be warned!
The breakfast this morning was very fatty: bacon, fried potatoes and "scrambled eggs". I barely had any and then off to Leonard Field to find out class at 8:30 am! I found out that there were actually a crapload of people taking the same course as me so it was split into three different groups (I'm in group 3). The whole lot of us went to Stirling Hall for our introduction lecture and were split into even smaller groups for these forensic and diagnostic cases that we had to solve by the end of the week. Throughout the day, we had two other lectures: Infectious Diseases, Viruses, and we ended off with a trip to the Anatomy Museum which was totally awesome! First of all, all of the specimens were human parts and such, and as a sign of respect we were not allowed to wear hats, take pictures, chew food and do any other stupid thing while inside the lab/museum. When we first walked into there, I was just floored by the amount of human parts either turned into ones we could touch (been plastinated so it felt kindof rubbery) or in formaldehyde glass boxes. On the far end of the room was the place with all the brains and heads and few ventured there since a lot of the heads in the glass boxes stared back at you. It was kindof creepy standing next to them looking at them in the eye and it really does hit you that these specimens were human and they once alive. After looking through the room, the two med people showed us two cadavers, both old in age and female. It was very exhilerating to see these bodies because it really gave me an idea of what I'm planning to spend the rest of my life doing. They actually let us take out organs, touch them, feel them, but some pulled back because there was in fact a face that belonged to that dissected body and it scared some people.
Anyways, I thought the anatomy museum was the best thing to end the day with. Ooo! Just remembered: I also got to feel and touch a human brain that has been soaked in extremely concentrated formaldehyde. The brain is heavy and is also extremely squishy but not spongy like I thought it would be. The lungs however were VERY spongy. Afterwards, a bunch of us (meaning me and the gr. 12 guys) went shopping DT and I bought a shirt at the Army Surplus store. Anyone want to take a guess as to what the shirt says?
By the time we came back from shopping it was dinner time and I don't think I have ever eaten that much cafeteria food ever in my life, it was delicious! And then I had two enormous scoops of ice cream on a cone (a very very small cone in fact) and it took me a while to eat that. Ivan, Geoff (gr. 10) and I wanted to watch Pulp Fiction afterwards, seeing how I had a laptop and the movie, it would've been possible if we were able to find a spot where there was a room that both sexes could be in that also included an outlet. We found a common room on the first floor and everything was going smoothly until all these people started walking in and out of it, talking loudly, and then we found out that they were playing games on the gigantic television and also different board games (it was one of the activities we could sign up for). So we moved to another common room that was very close by but didn't have any sofas. We sat on the floor and all was going well again until these huge nerds came in with their magic cards and started moving around the furniture, talking very loudly again, and bothering us immensely. The three of us, well, mostly me, got kindof pissed at everybody so we just decided that this movie deserved a better audience and disbanded into our separate floors.
On a separate note, Ivan and Khash figured out the telephones so we can call each other very late at night when we can't get to bed! Yay! I hope tomorrow is just as fun because today was so frikkin awesome! I SAW DEAD PEOPLE!

Queens: Day 1

Alright everybody! We left from Woburn at about...1:15pm-ish and got here around 4 pm. The bus ride was actually quite fast since Ivan and I were watching Saw on my lap top. Kingston didn't seem the same from when I went to visit my sister during March Break. The atmosphere seemed so dull and unexciting, with a little bit of teenage angst. The music they were blaring while we were lining up to sign in was um..pretty terrible (to me anyways), I won't actually name any names just so I don't accidentally offend anybody. The residence that we are staying at this year is supposedly the same as last year: Leonard Hall. It definitely isn't the same kindof place like Chown from two years ago, but it's definitely a newer building with nicer furniture. The thing about Leonard Hall is that each floor has its own common room, so there isn't much interaction between sexes just yet.
I forgot how dinner was really early too, 5:00-6:15, and I took a nap until 6 so I rushed down and grabbed some soup and some weird meat thing to eat. I ended up not eating too much. We then had a meeting in the big common room (where guys and girls can be) and went over the rules...again. We were then FORCED to go on a campus tour, although we all had a sheet of the map and then later made a junk food stop at A&Ps. We were only allowed 15 minutes to get everything we needed. I got gelato (but its not REAL gelato), crispers, a box of frosted cheerios, and a bottle of water. The time that we needed to meet back outside "under the pansies" (mr. grigg) was about 9 pm. It was 8:45 when I lined up to pay for my stuff at the cashier (fourth person so it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes), and I don't think I have ever seen such an incompetent cashier woman ever! She took almost 10 minutes helping two customers with their stuff ($127.89 I think?), and she was just putting the food and what not into the bags and then loading them into those gigantic red boxes. I mean..holy shit! And then she messed up the next two people in line because they were paying by debit card and she didn't know how to punch in the codes. I mean...HOLY CRAP! If you can't memorize simple codes that let people pay with credit and debit cards, you shouldn't be a cashier. The worst part is, I was in the shortest line but I didn't get out until 9:05. Everyone was already outside and were starting to get a little grouchy when I came out.
Anyways, tomorrow is my first day of my class (Hands-On Pathology) and I really hope that it doesn't suck. So far, all the other students that I have seen were generic white people, or other races that are trying to be white. Like, you got the jocks and the surfer dudes; the tight-jeaned, small tshirt females; and then the other people who look like "tools" as Ivan put it. Hopefully my class isn't full of all these people because then I would feel so out of place.
I'm really glad that my internet connection works (so far) because it gets kindof lonely being the only grade 12 girl and being able to talk to some on msn really helps. So, that's about it for now and hopefully my ankle gets better because I frikkin RErolled it yesterday.

Goodbye Wind Ensemble! Farewell my most beloved French Horn! I have played you since Grade 4 (that would be...8 years?!), and it is finally time for us to part. We have gone through so many memories, like the ones with me struggling to carry you home to practice....
Yes, it has been a long time for me in this TDSB music program, even though I didn't take the course this year. I remember that in Sam Steele (Elementary school), there were 4 people playing the french horn (including me!), then MacMillan was 6 people (the French Horn is just SOOOO popular!), and then I come to Woburn: "What do you mean I'm the only french horn?!". It's been loads of fun, especially seeing Mrs. Houghton begging other people to play french horn so I wasn't the only one...even though we didn't particularly sound any better with more than one french horn. But yes, can you believe I'm graduating?! I don't feel prepared to go anywhere yet! I mean, I feel like I haven't experienced all that I should experience in high school. I haven't gone through some life changing moment, and I don't think I've made any friends that I would really talk to for the rest of my life (please people, prove me wrong on the latter one). What university am I going to?! Oh, I am totally ruling out McGill now because I just found out Karla Homolka (sp?) is going to live in Montreal. Yea, I'm being a little overly dramatic but hey, now I have a somewhat reasonable excuse to not live so far away from my parents. That reminds me, I'm totally going to Queens next week for that high school E=mc2 thingy. Hands-on Pathology! Please people, take notes and sheets for me in class so I don't get more lost than I already am! ;)! Thanks a bunch everybody!

I have to say though that I don't think I would be the person I am today if it wasn't for the people I have met and enjoyed my time with. So from the very bottom of my heart I thank you. Thank you music for teaching me to listen and express myself and to the teachers for letting me do all the crazy shit that I do. This reminds me, I must go back and visit Sam Steele and MacMillan one more time before I graduate.

Driving

Most chinese people just can't drive...it just drives me insane! Yes yes, I know I'm being just a little bit hyprocritical but I don't actually go 10 km under the speed limit and brake every 5 seconds on the frikkin road! GOD! The thing that drives me craziest is Chinese parking lots. HOLY SHITT!!! They're so..soo...HORRIBLE!! First of all, people don't follow anything on the road or any of the signs. Hello idiot! A stop sign means to STOP. And when someone is blinking their light for a space, it doesn't mean that you can just drive in and take it for yourself. Take for example my dad: he speeds, doesn't blink his light when changing lanes, doesn't check blindspots, and most importantly, doesn't stop when it's not an advanced green anymore (he almost ran over a mother with her baby man!!!!).
On a second note, I was driving my grandfather's car today....his car is a piece of shit. I mean, it shakes when it accelerates, probably having problems with the automatic gear shift. I mean, my god! All of a sudden, the car is going at 4000 rotations/min and then the meter falls back down to 2000 the next second....something is seriously SERIOUSLY wrong with that car. It still looks GREAT on the outside because he takes so much care in cleaning it and making it look nice, but the car is so hazardous. I'm scared it's going to jolt really hard and hurt my grandpa or my grandmother too.
On a third note, Anthony gave me a ride home on tuesday. Very impressive Anthony but you still have a long way to go. Congratulations on finally getting your G2!!

what a weekend!

This weekend has been one of the busiest this year although not the most productive.
Let's start off on Saturday...
Saturday started off with me waking up at 9 am (I know, it's not THAT early but I AM a lazy bum) and going out to brunch with my mom. Brunch was...interesting. We decided to try something new so we went to one of those little chinese cafes. The food was decent, but I have never eaten an omelette where the fillings were not part of the egg mix but just folded inside a fried egg. Afterwards, I went to the first dragonboat water practice and that was pretty hard. My back and my left shoulder KILLED! Actually, it still does >.
For Sunday, I had to get back to the school at around 10 am and start my doubles and mixed tournament. I made it to semifinals for both categories but no hardware =(. I think I did the best in mixed because after the two games that brought us (derek and I) down to flight D, we had to win our third game to continue on. We played this guy named Thomas from Leacock and won, but I rolled my ankle because the floor was too grippy. I played the last half of that game and two more games with that injury, and it was kindof exciting because I've never had anything swell this huge before. Hehehe..I totally took a picture too. Now I have to do this horrible food and nutrition essay that has nothing to do with food and nutrition.
