I-K-E-A!!
I bought myself a desk with an add-on shelf unit AND a drawer on wheels and they all match each other! The problem was that they ran out of the black-brown wood so my entire plan for black/red/white is gone! Gone I tells ya! I had to settle with regular birch colour. Also got me one of those crazy hanging things with 6 compartments, and it's all mesh-like. I don't know if I'll ever use it, but I have one now just in case! I really wanted some of that 99 cent pasta too but apparently they start selling that after 3 pm which SUCKS.
Afterwards the RAIN CAME! DUM DUM DUMM!!! *Bass drum rolls followed by some timpani*. We were actually able to fit all the stuff that we bought into my mom's little acura and drove off. The rain just started getting worse and worse, and right after we drop off my dad back at work (came with us for some lunch and ikea shopping) the flash flooding began. We made it to the CIBC and we could see that the parking lot was getting a little flooded. Went inside, and deposited (or tried to anyways) some money into my account. Right when they were making my deposit, there was a black out and you just heard the managers yelling "lock the drawers! lock the doors!". That was kindof awesome..still not sure if they made the transaction so I might just have to go back and do it again. When we left, the rain was killer, there was some hail too and it was just bad luck that the one parking spot that we were in was the lowest park in the entire parking lot. The umbrella didn't help much and my pants got soaked in foot high water. The drive home was kindof thrilling and scary at the same time. We tried to go down VP but there was this little lake that was getting deeper at this dip in the road and even the vans and SUVs were u-turning out of there. There were huge puddles everywhere and the water was spurting maybe 5 feet high from car wheels trying to get a grip on the road. My mom's knuckles were white on the steering wheel for the entire car ride and when we finally got home, we couldn't have been happier. But OH NO! The adventure doesn't end here!!!!
Our roof has been a bit of a trouble lately, having huge holes and whatnot, and part of our living room and solarium were leaking and the entire basement was flooded. I had one of those 10 litre buckets and I scooped about 4 bucket loads, walked up two flights of stairs to pour them out. My back is spasming a little bit now but I think I'll be ok. I finally gave up after I kept seeing the water rushing in everytime I wiped some away. It's definitely a lot less now since it took my mom about 3 hours to get rid of almost 3 inches of water in our basement. There was so much of our stuff that got soaked, like our old vhs tapes that my dad copied from those huge black disks illegally, papers, magazines, a lot of my sister's university stuff and I was suprised that I didn't get shocked by the freezer.
But now I'm sitting here, typing this blog because I'm sure the water will somehow miraculously go away by tomorrow.
