Daric and Danny
Most of you guys already know the story about Daric and Danny, but if you don't, let me recap. It was last summer in August and I just finished my volunteering at Sicks Kids for the day and had met up with Abby to eat lunch in Nathan Phillips Square (it was Tasty Tuesday I believe). We got our food and went into the lobby of City Hall where it was quiet to gourge ourselves. We sat in front of th elevator where the only bench was and when we were about to leave, two guys walk up to us and ask, "Would you like to be witnesses at a wedding?". I had no other plans and my sister didn't have to go back to work yet so we said "sure!".
We get up to the 3rd floor of City Hall where the "wedding chapel" is and waited in line behind an indian couple with a huge family. We got acquainted with the two guys and they were actually very very nice. Their names were Daric and Danny and they came all the way from San Francisco to get married. When the wedding finished, Abby had used up all the memory on their digital camera and we had to delete some so they could take pictures of us signing the witness papers. Afterwards, they bought us ice cream downstairs and gave us their card and said that if we ever went to San Francisco we should call them. Abby was cleaning out her wallet one day when I was working and she found the card. We realized that we haven't talked to them in a year so we emailed them to see if they still remembered us. Here's an excerpt from the email they sent:
" We had fun on August 12, our anniversary. Since it's a "paper" anniversary, we gave each other a giant world atlas since we both love traveling so much AND an Oxford English Dictionary ( the kind that defines every word in the English language and provides a magnifying glass to read them!) I also gave Danny a Toronto city flag that I ordered from Canada. We had a fun dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, so it was quite a celebration...Danny and I still get along great -- must be your "bridesmaid magic!"
Danny (the one in the brown) is actually an actor and he's currently doing a 7-hour production of Dickens' Nicholas Nickleby at the California Shakespeare Theatre and the two of them just bought a parrotlet to mate with their other parrotlet (small parrots that weigh less than an ounce).
I posted some pictures. One of them is from the day of the wedding and the other one is from their trip to Iceland in June.
