Commencement

I'm sure EVERYONE is writing about commencement in their blogs but hey, you're reading this so you're still interested right? =).
Anyways, commencement went well, um, got my nice little diploma and my little Ontario Scholar diploma. People said I looked cute in my dress too! Hee, that's good to hear. I thought I was being a little too scandolous, and I don't think my dad liked me in that dress too much from the look on his face when he saw me wearing it. Other than that, congratulations to everyone who got awards (and those who got MORE than one award too!), and big props to Pranavi for an awesome speech. Although every year the speeches sound exactly the same, it does in a way touch you differently when it's your own graduating year. I guess you just relate to it more since you're actually GONE from WOBURN (FOREVER!).
Of course, commencement was the perfect time for taking loads of pictures and everyone has to send me theirs when they zip them *wink wink*. My pictures will be forthcoming since I forgot to bring my cable to hook up to my lappy. So yea, my display picture for msn will be commencement ones for a while.
tiff: thanks for the rides and also to um...the fobby picture that you will send to me later!
steph: earrings...awesome stuff *thumbs up* I will give them back to you the next time I see you
robyn: i WILL give you back your dvds
Everyone who went to Frederick's: good to know that some people were more eager to see each other than others. I loved what everyone was wearing, with the suits and the dresses and the suits...*cough* robyn being a huge business power woman when she grows up *cough*
People at Boston Pizza: even though not everyone there was graduating, good to see you guys! And ew to like our crappy clubhouse pizza with like 90% of the toppings being onions. bleck.
People at Adrian's "party": um...although you guys were already HIGH and DRUNK when I came, it was good to see you guys too....would have been better if you guys weren't HIGH and DRUNK but I can't stop you haha.
and of course...
EVERYONE AT COMMENCEMENT!!
Wow, some of you guys looked sooooo good! Kavita with your cute bob (^_^)..not saying you weren't cute before *shifts eyes*, the guys with your new facial hair AND regular hair styles (Jordan! your emo hair is hot). And like, all the ladies!!! Everyone looked REALLY HOT that night...as in EVERYONE! (Neena with her scandolous halter top! *gasp*! I can see your shoulders!)

The night was good other than MY FEET WERE KILLING ME LIKE NOTHING ELSE ON THE FRIKKIN PLANET. Those shoes looked pretty, but oh my goodness, I couldn't walk at all. I had to lean on Enoch to walk to Adrian's place, and again when we were leaving. Yeesh, need to get some insoles or padding or something. And this morning when I woke up and was walking around, I can't feel one of my toes...like, it's not a callous and I can feel it when I poke it with my finger, but when I walk, I can't feel it. Weird or what eh? (argh! I said "eh" again)
Anyways, I'm going to go lay down on my comfy sofa and watch some satellite tv. (I heart home).

Woburnites Unite

Alright, so far there is the dinner before commencement at Frederick's which right now I think consists of Robyn and I...and other people? And the dinner AFTER commencement at Boston Pizza. More importantly, what are we doing AFTER commencement? There HAS to be some sort of awesome party or get-together. I don't think just seeing you guys for like 3 hours is enough to make up for 2 months!
***
I had to do this biology assignment where you read this very long scientific journal, and then summarize it into a maximum of 300 words. You remember how in high school, when they say 800, you can somehow doddle up to 1000 words? Well, the prof said it was "strictly" 300 words. HOLY CRAP! It's so hard to summarize 13 pages of research and summaries into 3 paragraphs. Wow...damn giftedness is too overpowering. But hey, I cut it down so much that I don't think it even makes sense anymore. But I DON'T CARE! I got a psych midterm to study for :).
***
I'm coming home tomorrow around 3-ish! Comment please to give me more info on what's going on!

Week Before It's Somewhat Over

This week I got some more assignments and tests to do and then midterms willl be over! Got a calc test tomorrow (or later today if you want to be pricky about it), chem quiz due on Thursday, Psych midterm and Bio assignment due on friday. The thing about the psych midterm is that the prof takes all his old questions, puts them through a machine and it spits out the questions. So all of the questions have been on previous tests...and you can buy the previous tests for $5. So hopefully I don't totally fail that midterm.. *thinking back to bio....WHO GIVES A CRAP HOW VIAGRA WORKS?!*
Friday's going to be great because my mom's gonna pick me up (after I hide the huge retail sign in my room) and then commencement! Any more details for what's going on after commencement? And what people are wearing? I would love to know =). Haha...can't wait to see you woburnites again.
Anyways, I should go study calc some more!!! toodles!

DAMN YOU BIO!!! DAMN YOU TO HELL!!!

Oh me oh my. Totally messed up that exam. I've been doing great in every single course EXCEPT for biology!! It's weird. I'm even getting 80s in Chemistry. The problem with this exam was there were all these written questions that wigged me out, and I kindof bs-ed them a lot. I just hope I pass (WITH the bellcurve if there is one). If there isn't, then I know I definitely failed. It sucks because I did hardcore for three days straight....maybe that did me in. Lol. Ah well, just hope that I do well in everything else. This frikkin exam was worth frikkin 20% of my mark! I hope I got like...at least 10 marks for that hehe...
Other than that, Halloween's coming up! Is anyone dressing up as anything? I think I might be a character from the Wallace and Gromit Movie: Curse of the Were Rabbit. That was a GREAT MOVIE!!! I might see it again heehee...I think I'm gonna go to the mall on Saturday, buy myself a costume and possibly watch Doom. I've never played the game, but I've SEEN people play it, and the Rock is in it!!! Wooo....crazy stuff.
I only have one midterm left and that's psych. Not as worried but still, I'm going to study my pants off for that too.

P.S. I'm currently sitting here feeling depressed that I failed that exam. This kindof depression can only be dealt with by Asian junk food.

And this is from Oktoberfest, the PIGTAIL that I ATE...or tried to eat anyways. Please people, keep your minds out of the gutter for this pic please... Posted by Picasa

here is the infamous retail sign (it's wrinkling my escher poster in this picture!!) Posted by Picasa

Stressing

I think I had an anxiety attack Monday night when I realized that I was in deep shit for not doing any work. It scared me a little because this doesn't (ever really) happen to me. I guess I'm not as confident and strong-willed as I thought (yea, you people out there laugh all you want about my lack of self-confidence). The last time this happened was when I was in grade 8 and I was talking 4 full year math courses: grade 8 math (still had to go to class and do the work there), grade 9 math (missed two classes in my senior public school to go to L'amoureaux and take this course), Kumon (always hell of course) and at that time also Saturday morning school (Marilake..*high five* to anthony). But seriously, I shouldn't freak out. I haven't really been doing my work so technically I put this on myself. Karma right? Fucking karma...
Other than that, I just got two more midterms left to do, a Chem quiz due next week, Biology report (it's only 300 words?!?!), and a psychology report. I'm actually looking forward to doing my psych midterm because I heard that the dean of psych actually recycles all of his old questions from old tests. Saying that, they're selling all of the old tests for $5..I say that its totally worth it. Plus when I went go to buy the package today, I was in a wallowing (sp?) mood and I whipped out my change purse to give them some coinage when one of the guys were like "THAT'S THE COOLEST CHANGE PURSE EVER!". I let him play with it for a while... It's weird how even when there's so little to be happy about sometimes, the smallest things can make you smile.
SO SMILE!!! =D =D =D

Birthday Bash

Last night was one of the funnest (not a word, i know) nights I have ever had. It was just a few of us after some not too drunk people left and we started playing a drinking game. The game was that every time a certain character came on the screen, we would flip a card over and whoever had the lowest number had to drink to the count of 10. I lost a couple of times, and by the end of the card deck, I was left with 2 cards and everyone else was left with one. The rest of the house agreed that if I lose this one then I have to do a dare. I was already pretty tipsy so when Will Farrell came on the screen, I flipped my cards over hoping that I lost. I actually got a jack and ten but I wanted to do a dare anyways. The dare was to go around the neighbourhood, find a For Sales sign and bring it back. I was so out of it so I was like "why the hell not?!". Went running outside, there was a for sale sign across the street, I took the WHOLE thing (wooden pole and all) and ran back. Everyone was so proud of me. =). I feel kind of bad though, if the people across the street don't replace their sign by tonight then I think I'm gonna return it (I'm still good at heart people!).
Later after we were all pretty tipsy, we had cake...which ended in a cake fight. I had to do floors last week or this week so I have to clean up all the crappy cake that's on the ground. I'm still a little bit hung over and I didn't go to any of my classes. I didn't want to miss anything but my head is KILLING me. I never had a hangover before so I guess this is one of those "learning" experiences.
Ok, so this is what I got this year from friends and family:
-awesome birthday cards
-TML jersey! (#13)
-Bruce Lee door poster and cute TY dog (=))
-Mini Make-Your-Own Bear kit (so cute!)
-Booze and pizza (I only had one slice and thanks to John for the concoctions)
Anyways, I still got to do a bio lab later today (which I have to read up on) and then maybe go eat dinner with that native guy.

Name This Continent:...."ASIA"

Heeheeheee...that was from Celebrity Jeopardy. I totally missed those sketches on SNL because I didn't really start watching it until Will Farrell left.
***
Went to watch Wallace and Gromit today and it was sooooo good! It was so cute with the bunnies and the..bunnies. Heeheehee...I think I'm gonna go watch it again! Whheee!
Got a "birthday" party later tonight...hopefully getting a little drunk. Just hope I make it to my psych class tomorrow morning at 8:30.

Shopping = stress reliever

I never thought I would hear myself say that, but I did. Abby came last night and we went to Lime Ridge Mall today (w/ Kyle too). It was fun, I found myself a nice dress in Le Chateau for commencement (dresses are good right?) and also these really nice strappy shoes. I hope I'm not all too formal and stuff for commencement, and that I'm not the only one wearing a dress. It's nice and kindof frilly..kindof in the front to hide my tummy (not exactly freshman 15 but getting there) and it's a halter. It's nice and I'm excited! I really think we should do something that night after commencement. A party or like, go to someone's house and just have a blast! I'm not sure if I'm staying for the entire weekend because I want to get to Mac for Hallowe'en. Or even the day before for the parties.
Not sure what I want to be yet for Hallowe'en. Probably just something simple like put on cat ears or something. There was this store dedicated to Hallowe'en stuff in the mall and Abby and I found these two matching costumes called the socket and plug. The girl wore this socket costume, and the dude wore the plug costume. Hehehehehe...

Chemistry Attack!!! Run Away!!

Woah, I have my first frightening midterm today at 7 pm. *frightened*. It's 25 multiple choice questions but none of them are only worth 1 mark. Some are worth 2 and 5 of them are worth 3!!! AHHHHHH!!! I know I shouldn't stress, that'll just make my hair fall out even more (don't want my housemates to complain even MORE now do I?). But I know it's going to be hell for next week for the biology midterm. It's not just multiple choice there but also written stuff because the profs and them want to make sure that we "understand" the stuff and not just memorizing so they're making us write stuff. Yea, like that isn't just even MORE memorization work for us. Pssht. At least there are less chapters for biology, except each chapter has something new to offer while half of the chapters in chemistry were all like grade 11 review. Most of first year chem we've all learnt before and I am SO glad that I decided to go into the gifted program. I had no idea that it would actually benefit me in the sense that the lectures don't seem to go as fast as I thought they would go.
My sister's coming in from Waterloo today to spend the weekend with me! YAY!! Plus my parents are coming up tomorrow night and we're going to have my birthday dinner. I just need to find a good family restaurant in Hamilton (anyone have any good recommendations? Eventhough 95% of the people who read this doesn't live here =P). My parents are all "awww...she's all grown up now" and stuff because now both of their kids are off living in other cities and now there are going to be four election information cards that are going to be appearing in the mail. Remember to vote people! 18 is worth something...even if it is just a little bit.
Anyways, I just woke up which is BAD, and now I must eat lunch and cram my brain full of chem facts.
p.s. kyle is a dim sum.

"I'd Like a Coffee Please"..." BEER??"

Oktoberfest was fun. We left the house early in the morning and drove to Kitchener for their annual Oktoberfest parade. We caught the last part of it and went into the "food" tent to have some lunch. Not suprisingly, they didn't actually serve food inside the tent itself (other than popcorn and giant pretzels) and we had to go outside where it was cold and wet and ordered some schnitzel, sausage, scalloped potatoes, and a pigtail. Ya heard me, pig tail. I thought at first that maybe they didn't ACTUALLY mean a REAL pigtail. You know, like how chinese translations always make you think it's something else (or something really gross?). But yea, it was an actual pigtail and it didnt taste all that bad. They seasoned it pretty well and the sauce on it was sweet and bbq-y at the same time. The only down side of it was that it was mostly fat and I had no idea how to eat it.
I took some pictures of some of the floats, they were pretty cool, and also of my pigtail. I will post them soon.

Bodies! Bodies! and MORE BODIES!!!

Went to Body Worlds today at the Ontario Science Centre..it was wicked cool. Yup yup, my sis and I went there when the centre opened around 10-ish and got into the 11 am slot (you have to pay according to certain hours so people don't just all barge in at the same time). It was SO cool in there, even though it's supposed to be very scientific, they display them in such a way that makes them artistic. One of my favourites would have to be this one display called the Anatomy Big Bang. What it looked like was the body but exploded! Everything was exposed and hung on different strings to show every little bit of the human anatomy. Like you stuck a bomb inside a dude and somehow he exploded in such a way that individual organs and arteries stayed in place but not stuck to each other. Fancy eh? There was also this camel that they showed the stomach of, and also they sliced the head and the neck into three different slices (sagittally) and had them in different positions. One of them up, one midway, and the other one on the ground like it was eating. It was really cool.
A lot of people were kindof disgusted of course but I'm sure that was to be expected by a lot of people. It said on one of the first panels that these people donated their bodies to science, and that there was now a donation thing to this exhibit in America. One part of the exhibit that was closed off with curtains was the one with the different stages of the fetus. They even had a plastinated pregnant woman with a 5 month old baby in her womb still. It was really amazing to look at and you could tell by the black lungs that the mother was a smoker and that's what she probably died from.
I think I saw some Woburn teachers there too, past and present. I saw Ms. Whitfield with her two sons and then Mr. Calhoun I think. I'm not too sure, and I didn't really go up to them to find out if they did. I ended up buying a book from the giftshop which hopefully has all the pictures from the exhibit in it. I really wanted to see this one of the man playing chess but Ithink he's in another body worlds exhibit in America.
After that exhibit, we ate a very unhealthy lunch and went to an Imax production called The Human Body which showed all the different things of the body. The problem was, the seats are tilted at such a perfect angle that once you sit in them you fall asleep. It totally sucked because I was really interested in the stuff but my eyelids just got so heavy. Opened them from time to time but still, this wasn't the first time this has happened.
***
Tomorrow I'm going to Kitchener for the Oktoberfest parade there at around 8 in the morning and then my parents are going to drive me back to Hamilton by about 2-ish. I got some studying to do too. It sucks having 5 calculus tests this term.

Because Robyn Said So...

Rules of the game: Post 5 Weird and Random facts about yourself, then at the end list the names of 5 people who are next in line to do this. Also leave a post on their blog to let these people know.

1. I am horrible with geography and history.
2. I still watch cartoons on YTV like Fairly Odd Parents (heehee)
3. I can't walk over grates
4. I hate: ET and clowns
5. I love chocolate but I hate eating chocolate ice cream.

Um...I don't know who's done this yet or who hasn't so I'll just tell everyone who hasn't done this yet on their blog to do it!

Les Miserables

Just got back from seeing Les Miserables today. It was amazing. Some of the performers didn't sing as nicely as I hope they would but it was all good. My favourite performer by far in the musical would have to be the man playing Javert (the police guy who's chasing after the main guy Jean Valjean). He had such a nice voice.
This is my fav song from it sang by Eponine when she finds out that the man she loves loves some other woman who (whom?) he just met:

On My Own

And now I'm all alone again
Nowhere to go no one to turn to,
Did not want your money sir
I came out here coz i was told to
And now the night is near
Now I can make believe he's here.

Sometimes I walk alone at night
When everybody else is sleeping
I think of him and then I'm happy
With the company I'm keeping
The city goes to bed
And I can live inside my head.

On my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone, I walk with him till morning
Without him
I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me

In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me for ever and forever

And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for us

I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone, the river's just a river
Without him the world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers

I love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life I've only been pretending
Without me his world will go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known!

I love him
I love him
I love him
But only on my own.

Other than that, the only other funny thing was that someone screwed up the house lighting at one point near the beginning. Guess his finger slipped.

Haloscan

Hey you guys...if it's possible, can you comment in the Haloscan link instead of the other one because that one get's a crapload of spam. But I don't know how to get rid of the other one in the template =S.

Thanks a lot!!

TO tonight!

Hey everybody! I'm going back to Toronto tonight and I can't wait to see some of you guys! (If you're still up for some get-togethery-ness) and also to see my fam and Les Mis!! *giddy*!! Nothing too new to report except I've actually been working out every other day for the past couple of weeks and it's starting to show...just a little bit :). Like I still got some fat from over the summer that I've been trying to get rid of, but it's so hard!! It's true about losing those last couple of pounds and how frikkin hard it is. Getting some nice abs though teehee...
On some other INTERESTING news....I met with my psych group in the science library two days ago and we were discussing our psych trigger and the report we had to do. Our trigger was Subliminal Perception and the main example that we have to use being the Judas Priest trial with those two kids who tried to commit suicide. Anyways...afterwards, I was talking to one of the girls in the group and she was like "I live in Bates," and I was like "really? do you know someone by the name of Debbie?"
J: "You mean Debbie Ho?"
B: "Yea!"
J: "omg, she's my roommate!"
B" *stunned*
What are the chances of THAT happening eh? (Thnx to Kyle I've been saying 'eh' WAY too much) I went up with her to her "apartment-style" room to check it out because I didn't know what they looked like. It was pretty nice and Debbie was there, along with Alex. I asked Alex what he was doing here on a Wednesday, and he said, "Oh, York people get off for Jewish holidays." *gasp!* WHAT?! I don't understand why though, was it because York was founded by a Jewish person? Or what? I mean, Hamilton (according to my housemates) is mainly Jewish people so why doesn't Mac get Jewish holidays off too?! Gosh, there are like a billion of those and we can't take advantage of one of them! Boooo.....
In other news, I stayed up until very late doing this online chemistry quiz that's due on Sunday. I didn't really want to work on it over the weekend (seeing as how I'm hopefully be very busy either with family stuff or friend stuff or studying stuff) so yea...VERY LATE!!! Got it done though, just hope I got a good mark on it..not like last time when I didn't know it was due until 3 hours before it was due!! *BIG S mouth!*. I definitely think I did better which is good =).
***
Have you ever seen a memorial award named after someone that you didn't know? And then google their name just to figure it out? I was walking through this hall to the Pulse gym and there was this Heimbecker cup for athletes after the girl Joan Heimbecker. I thought, "why was she important? What did she do that made her so recognized?". That night I went home and googled her name up. Apparently her boyfriend (or ex-boyfriend) shot her 6 times when she was about the age of a girl in grad school.
This wasn't the first time I've seen this though. When I went to John A. Macdonald for Saturday morning math class, there was this plaque on the wall that said "in memorium" and I looked at hte names on there. There was this chinese (or asian girl's name) and then these two other names with the same last name "Ottey". I wondered how two sisters (only 2 years apart) could have died in the same year. I looked their names up on the internet that night and found out that one of the sister's ex-boyfriend shot and beat the sisters to death.
Holy crap! You guys see a trend here? Definitely there has been a lot of women abuse in this country, especially around our age group. I'm not being a feminist or anything, but I'm just stating by observation here. I just hope none of you guys ever get into something like that, because that would suck ass....a lot of ass.

Poster Sale

There's a huge poster sale going on in the Mac Student Centre this week and I got myself a copy of some Escher drawings (Relativity and Waterfall) and this other one with all of Murphy's laws on it. I'm kindof starting to stress out a bit because midterms are coming up REALLY QUICKLY and I'm soooo scared :S. I'm just watching a buffy episode right now to de-stress...it's kindof working. Hotness of Spike + buffy in general = really awesome.
Not much else is going on here but I AM going back to TO for Thanksgiving to watch Les Miserables, and also for Thanksgiving of course, but yea, of course we gifties gotta meet up for something!!
I was biking back home yesterday from class and I usually jay walk (or jay bike in this case) and I had to jump over the curve. This time around, my bike lock came out of the little hook thing that it was in and it dropped right into the middle of the road. Now this happened two times before, but it dropped in a place where the cars couldn't really get to it. This time around though, this really low car ran over it and the plastic part just broke off. It sucks because my lock still works, meaning I can't buy a new one, but it's so hideous because it's lost the colourful redness of the plastic thing. I just hope I didn't screw over that other car because that lock flipped up pretty high meaning it got caught onto something on the underside....*S-mouth*

P.S. MAC KICKED QUEENS ASS FOR THE HOMECOMING GAME! GO MARAUDERS!

Thornley

So tonight I went to the Thornley concert and I guess it was alright. I like their music kindof plus it was a first time experience for me since I've never been to a "rock" concert (K-OS does NOT count). It was pretty overwhelming with the bass and stuff so I stayed back for a little bit. I met this guy who had to do a report on the concert for his music class and it sucked for him because he had to pay to get in plus he didn't like the band. Other than that nothing else much is happening except for that I'm REALLY tired right now and my parents are coming to visit me on Sunday and bring me lots of goodies!! I hope everyone's homecoming is going swell, and that nobody got hurt or anything stupid like that.

Goodnight!
