Bodies! Bodies! and MORE BODIES!!!
Went to Body Worlds today at the Ontario Science Centre..it was wicked cool. Yup yup, my sis and I went there when the centre opened around 10-ish and got into the 11 am slot (you have to pay according to certain hours so people don't just all barge in at the same time). It was SO cool in there, even though it's supposed to be very scientific, they display them in such a way that makes them artistic. One of my favourites would have to be this one display called the Anatomy Big Bang. What it looked like was the body but exploded! Everything was exposed and hung on different strings to show every little bit of the human anatomy. Like you stuck a bomb inside a dude and somehow he exploded in such a way that individual organs and arteries stayed in place but not stuck to each other. Fancy eh? There was also this camel that they showed the stomach of, and also they sliced the head and the neck into three different slices (sagittally) and had them in different positions. One of them up, one midway, and the other one on the ground like it was eating. It was really cool.
A lot of people were kindof disgusted of course but I'm sure that was to be expected by a lot of people. It said on one of the first panels that these people donated their bodies to science, and that there was now a donation thing to this exhibit in America. One part of the exhibit that was closed off with curtains was the one with the different stages of the fetus. They even had a plastinated pregnant woman with a 5 month old baby in her womb still. It was really amazing to look at and you could tell by the black lungs that the mother was a smoker and that's what she probably died from.
I think I saw some Woburn teachers there too, past and present. I saw Ms. Whitfield with her two sons and then Mr. Calhoun I think. I'm not too sure, and I didn't really go up to them to find out if they did. I ended up buying a book from the giftshop which hopefully has all the pictures from the exhibit in it. I really wanted to see this one of the man playing chess but Ithink he's in another body worlds exhibit in America.
After that exhibit, we ate a very unhealthy lunch and went to an Imax production called The Human Body which showed all the different things of the body. The problem was, the seats are tilted at such a perfect angle that once you sit in them you fall asleep. It totally sucked because I was really interested in the stuff but my eyelids just got so heavy. Opened them from time to time but still, this wasn't the first time this has happened.

Tomorrow I'm going to Kitchener for the Oktoberfest parade there at around 8 in the morning and then my parents are going to drive me back to Hamilton by about 2-ish. I got some studying to do too. It sucks having 5 calculus tests this term.
