willy wonka, willy wonka
Oh yea, that's right, I watched Willy Wonka today. It was actaully very different from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. One of the major differences were the oompa loompas. In the original version, the oompa loompas were actually different people, but in this version, they're all the same person, just copy and pasted over and over and over again. The songs and the dancing were really weird, I guess Tim Burton was trying to modernize it from the first version of the movie. The whole subplot with Wonka's past was a little bit unnecessary, but its Christopher Lee so I can't really say much about that. The sets were definitely really extravagent but not as much attention was paid to it which was kindof a disappointment. To me, Johnny Depp is a very dark (eg. Edward Scissorhands) or steamy (eg. Don Juan or even Pirates) and it just didn't seem to fit right when he played the role of this quirky Willy Wonka (plus he was really toothy).
Earlier that day, my sister and I went to the Y with other people, there was lots of rain, and some weird mix ups. Ahh..so lying doesn't count with ID (must remember that for the future). We met up with Howard for swimming and then Stella for badminton. It was a lot of fun and I'm glad I was able to get out and get some exercise. Afterward all the sweating and exercise, we went to Bayview Village and discovered there was a sidewalk sale..except it was Bayview Village and a "sale" there is like $50. Stella and Abby bought their Harry Potter books and Abby and I went to Scarborough Town to buy my dad's birthday presents and discovered they also had a sidewalk sale going on. We bought tshirts from Stitches and stuff from La Senza...oh La Senza, I love their sales. Here's a good tip for shoppers, when there's a table of shirts in the front of the store, the chances are that the size or the pattern you want is probably not there, but there's usually a small table near the back of the store that has a lot more sizes AND patterns so don't forget to check it. That's where my sister and I found our shirts in the end.
