jackpot!

All right people! It's that time of the year again..Chinese New Year! Which means red pockets, which means money - which is always good. Especially when you get a lot of it at one time. Chinese New Year was on Wednesday Jan. 9, but I haven't had time to update this blog. So this year is the year of the Rooster, and I celebrated by going out with my grandparents and having a huge dinner (with one of the dishes being chicken - I mean, what's better to celebrate the year of the chicken than eating one?). Today was my huge family gathering with my dad's side of the family at my aunt's house, and I guess it was all right. You know, me being the only one in the entire house not being able to read and write Chinese...I mean, even my four year old niece knew more than me. Her name's Rachel by the way, she's so cute and extremely hyper. After the dinner, my dad went to go play a couple of rounds of mah jong while my mom and I watched The Forgotten - not the legal version of it of course. That movie was horrible. I mean, really REALLY bad. The storyline, the characters, the acting...it was just bland and didn't make that much sense. The plot was that these aliens or something was trying to conduct this experiment about whether or not the love connection between the mother and her child can be disintegrated (lame, I know), but we're just getting to the juicy part. You remember all those trailers on tv? With the people all of a sudden got sucked up into the sky? Well, it didn't really make a lot of sense. You would think they would explain what happened to those people, or what exactly did it, but you don't. Who came up with the story of having aliens abduct children so they can see whether or not they can erase the memories of the parents? Nothing gets explained, just more and more spontaneous and nonsensical things happen in the movie. Oi...bad movie.
Today was a PA day too (woo!), and me and a couple of other people went swimming and played badminton at the North York Y, which is actually extremely close to where I live. The place there was amazing, and somehow I was able to get in free (I guess it was my charm), since it was my second time using a YMCA. The swimming was good, my friends theorized that the reason why I swim faster than they do is because I'm skinny, so I'm like a squid. A squid?! Yea, good memories from today.
