Midterm already?!

Yea, I got my first midterm tomorrow for algebra. It's going to suck. It's all about matrices so I'm really glad that Mr. Mo did matrix stuff with us last year. The thing is, my new algebra teacher has a really really thick accent and it's so hard for me to understand what he's saying. I'm sure throughout the rest of the term I'll start getting used to it but for now, I'm so lost in his class. Most of the time I just copy his overheads even though they're online, just so I can have something to do to help me learn a bit. I'm actually really worried about this math test...can you believe it? Me, seriously freaking out about a math test...inconcievable! The stuff is simple enough in the textbook but I'm scared that I missed stuff in class because I couldn't understand my prof.
Other than that, last night I ate 3 donuts in about 5 minutes...can you say FRESHMAN 15?!?! But yea to counterbalance that, I am trying to go to the gym regularly and work out. I want to actually be fit and stuff when the serious dragonboat stuff starts and also to work on my strength for badminton (even though it's not as important as placing). I brought out my laptop to the living room today and John, Matt, Morgan and I (haha..russell peters "my friend and i!" *big eyes*) and we hooked up my laptop to the tv and watched the new Family Guy Movie which was frikkin hilarious! "I'll make you fish ball soup! fish ball!!". BAHAHAHAHA....
I can't wait for friday to roll around because Thornley's going to be playing at Quarters pub. I'm not a huge Thornley fan or anything but it's for homecoming and since I'm not paying $5 for homecoming stuff I'm just gonna go to that. It's cool because I've never been to a concert in a pub or anything...so it'll be a new experience.

P.S. Input something racy here for Riziq!

Hey!

Alright, here's a quick update on my boring life. I went to the gym yesterday and worked out for about 1 and a bit hours (my ass hurts so much, i used that butt muscle workout machine...killer, seriously) and then I rested for about 10 minutes and went to my first Badminton Club meeting! It was actually the official second meeting but I didn't know when it started because I lost my sheets that said the info. The club was interesting, lots of people from beginners to experts. Me and this other girl (who played at level 5 at Lee's..don't really know what that means) played against these two white boys who didn't really know what they were doing. And everytime we smashed it or something, they would be like, "why didn't you guys try out for varsity? I thought this club was for beginners." But yea, that was fun. Other than that, nothing else much happened. Might go try out this restaurant on campus tomorrow with Kyle if we have time. I got a calc test from 7:30 -8:30 pm! OMG! Im not stressed about it or anything but I mean, it's my first REAL university test! Kindof scared a little.

Corpse Bride

I went to see Corpse Bride two nights ago and it was actually pretty good. A bunch of us wanted to go watch a movie but Kyle and I already saw the movies they wanted to watch so we decided to watch Corpse Bride instead while they watched Exorcism. They missed 15 minutes of their movie and we were 5 minutes early (sweet!). The movie itself was really great, even with the singing. It definitely was Nightmare-before-christmas-like in its animation, but the story and the molding of the characters were completely different. I was surprised that Johnny Depp could pull off the accent for the character (kindof like stuttering british?). Our movie finished about half an hour before the other one so we were just waiting outside in the theatre (the theatre is actually in this small mall...can i even call it a mall? but the theatre was pretty nice as in the seats were amazingly comfy).

Yesterday I went to Lime Ridge Mall again. But this time we didn't go 10 minutes before it closed so we could actually go shopping! Again, I bought underwear at La Vie (I have to stop doing that eh? lol) and bought a pair of jeans at Garage. I didn't really need to buy pants but I was kindof desperate because I just HAD to wear white pants that day *sigh*. When I got home (which was about 2-ish in the morning) I talked to my friend and she asked "so did you finish your chem quiz yet? it's due in like 4 hours..."
Me: "WHAT?! I thought it said 6 pm!"
T: "Nope, it said 6 am."
Me: "SHIIIITTT!!!"
I got it done in time though with loads of help from other people. I must give them all cookies.

Alone

Wow, this is a first in this house...me all by myself in the house. It's crazy because usually John or one of the girls are here, but nope. The girls went home for the weekend and John went to the gym. Speaking of which, I should go to the gym...but NOOOOOO i have to do algebra stuff. Argh! It's so difficult because in a high school, the teacher's always there to help and you know exactly where to find him (and you could probably see him every day) but it's a lot more difficult in university since the prof probably doesn't even remember your face. Anyways, the reason why I'm saying it's difficult is that I have to do this online algebra quiz that's due tomorrow and it took me 2 hours! The time they give you is only 15 minutes but if you can't do it, you can keep trying until you get it right (they change the question every time of course). I finally got it after using 7 double-sided sheets of paper and I'm kindof glad that Mr. Mo touched on matrices last year because MY GOD it helped. I barely did any kind of matrix work in Kumon so it's weird learning new stuff for me sometimes. Anyways, other than that, I got a crapload of chem to still read.
Tomorrow is going to be my rest day and I'm going to the mall! (I think). I need to buy a pair of shorts for the gym that has pockets so I don't have to keep sticking my card underneath my underwear elastic...feels weird.

The work!

So now the work has finally caught up to me. I guess I deserve it since I haven't really done as much studying compared to others. For example, there's a chem quiz that I don't really know a lot of the answers to, so I should hurry up and crack open that textbook. Other than that, today has been pretty interesting. I'm almost done my skills labs for Bio (one left!) and I went and played ping pong with this guy I bumped into (met him before during Welcome Week) at the IWC (it's the sports building). I totally whooped his butt in it...or how he says it "I raped him in ping pong". The final score was 101-73 or something and the only reason why he got that far was because we were playing with a cracked ball for a while and he never hit it on the crack while I did several times.
Afterwards, I went home and did some work and I met up with Kyle to go to Boston Pizza for the DB social! It was the first social thing for the team and it was actually pretty fun. We got to eat a hell of a lot of pizza and unlimited drinks for $13.75 a person. Of course we paid good tip because it was just two waitresses waiting on around 40-ish people. We were quite generous.
I have been looking forward to playing badminton in university but have failed so far. I could have if I went to try out for the Varsity team but I felt it was too intimidating. Instead I'm going to join the Badminton Club and play there, and if I feel I'm good enough, try out for varsity again next year. I wanted to play tonight (public badminton) but it was cancelled so I went to the gym instead and worked on my triceps for about 20 minutes. It's going to be so sore when I wake up in the morning.

DAMN THOSE BIO BASTARDS!

Wow, I had to buy this "biology paper" as a lab requirement for $1.15...turns out that it's just frikkin regular THREE HOLE PUNCHED WHITE PAPER! Argh, so this is how the universities make all their money. By sucking it out of every student to buy these "lab requirements". Maannn...and then there were these other sheets of paper that I had to get for 10 cents each (got 10 sheets) and they just have these uneven squares on the page. Maybe its for some higher purpose that I can't even fathom but right now, I'm pissed. I didn't open the envelope with the white paper until right now and it's making me angry. Quoting John: "Barbara MAD! Barbara slam dishwasher door!". Yea, about that...our dishwasher won't close, the latch is busted. I'm blaming the troll girls downstairs but I'm sure the latch was going to break some time this year anyways. But yea, it broke when they used it :P.
Oh! And another thing!!! I had to buy this "lab pencil" which turns out to be a regular 4H pencil which cost me $1.20. WTF??! I mean, I had to buy a new calculator for godsakes...and it's almost exactly the same to the one I have right now. I just wished they did that thing in Queens where they give you a sticker for an approved calculator.

I went to class!

So, this new alarm clock that I bought is REALLY helping. This morning I got so panicked because I thought my alarm clock sound was the fire alarm. But yes..it wasn't and I was wide awake and actually WENT to my 8:30 am class! HALLELUJAH! I'm also starting to get all organized: sorting loose sheets into binders, labelling the binders, and (get this) studying! I still got some catching up to do but much less and I can't believe how easy calc is right now. Yea yea, I know about the whole "you think you're so smart but just you wait until end of term and you'll be complaining about how hard it is" schpeel but RIGHT NOW it's really easy. It took us two classes to teach us about angles and we now just touched on identities. WOW! I went to the tutorial yesterday and I was the only one answering all of the TAs questions so I just kindof snuck out and left. There was no way I was going to stay in there for another hour.
Umm..other than that, since the last time I posted I haven't done anything too eventful. Went downtown again last night and saw Cry_Wolf...piece of shit movie. It wasn't even one of those stupid-no plot-scary b/c of the loud sounds kindof movie...it was just BAD. Like, some parts I thought it was going to be scary but like, we kindof guessed and predicted the entire movie scene by scene almost. It was funny though joking "ok, now the bad guy's going to be in the backseat" *bang!* Killer comes from the backseat! OR "bet you everyone's in on it" *bam!* end of the movie it was all a big prank set up by these white chick to kill the teacher she was having sex with. Oops, did I ruin the movie for you? Sorry! This movie is not even worth DOWNLOADING. I give it 1/5 stars just because it was funny in the sense that it was predictable funny. BLUH.
It's quite crazy how university moves eh? Just like that I have a term test next tuesday in Calculus and then an algebra test next friday. The only class I think I am somewhat not ontop of would be chem. I haven't really touched my chem book yet but I mean, right now most of the stuff my prof's doing is review so I'm not too too worried. Doesn't mean though that I'm not going to read it...which I will.... =). Plus I'm starting to go to the gym now and trying to stay fit or get MORE fit before dragonboat (if I make it....)
Next time I'm going back to TO: Oct. 8 to go see Les Miserables with my fam.

Stuff and stuff

So yesterday was the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival (much fun, and many mooncakes eaten) and I moved back to Hamilton around 10-ish last night. I have decided to stick a curfew on myself so I can wake up on time for my classes...it's not like I don't want to go to classes, but I just can't get to bed early enough (cuz i'm a bad wittle girl). The curfew rule starts tonight and I hope people are proud of me for doing it :). Haha, I'm so pitiful, getting people to be proud of me. Anyways, last night when I got back, I went out with some person(s) and we walked around campus and tried to find a park close by. It was soooooo frikkin foggy!! It reminded me of that movie trailer we saw before the Emily Rose movie called FOG *gasp!*. Yea, we hung out until 5 in the morning I think and I went home and Matt was just up for his rowing practice. I told him I was out with friends and fell asleep while watching a movie (sorry! it's sort of a habit for me to lie about these things :S! I'll get you a cookie :) ). Um, other than that, I'm feeling good. My alarm clock definitely works but the thing is that I can't get myself OUT of the bed the second time when I curl back into my sheets. I feel like I don't have any motivation to do anything and it's starting to affect me. I don't want it to but it is. But I think that by putting a curfew on myself I'm going to be able to straighten up and fly right (is that the phrase?). Well, you know what I mean.
The next time I'm going back to Toronto will be Oct. 8th to watch Les Mis with my family and then again for commencement. Oh, I can't wait to see all of them faces again!!

Exactly One Month...

...until my birthday!!! While I am only turning 18, it IS one year before 19 which means I'm getting closer to going to a bar (legally!). Today has been pretty interesting. I first went to lunch with my grandparents, then went to Markville mall to do some shopping. I bought myself some more clothes (including another pair of jeans), and another wall clock for the hammytown house living room (I donated my coke clock for now). Abby, mom and I then went to Market Village (on a Saturday afternoon!!! meaning DEATH IN THE PARKING LOT!!!) and I got myself one loud-ass alarm clock (it's a disney alarm clock too!). I also got myself a $10 calling card (1 cent/minute, good for 3 months), and a pair of awesome monkey slippers from metro square. After that, we went to go watch an acrobatic show in Nathan Phillips Square in celebration of the 40th birthday of the new city hall. It was FRIKKIN AMAZING. There were helium balls with people hanging everywhere doing crazy acrobatics, people playing with fire/fireworks, crazy dancing, and people dancing INSIDE helium balls!! There were other performances during the night, but this was definitely the featured one. This performance was called Of Angels and Light by Italy's Studio Festi and it was very obvious that it was something NOT from North America. I don't think Americans could ever think of anything this abstract or extravagent.
Other than that, I'm reading up on some bio and I'm going back to Hammytown tomorrow!!!

"Sleep is more important than studying"

That was a tip that a third year friend from my algebra class said. I told him that I missed my earlier classes because I didn't get to bed until 4 am the night before. I've been such a bad child...missing classes already. I hate myself for that because I can't even wake up when I get out of bed to turn off my alarm clock. I lack self control and am totally going insane. Classes haven't really gotten too hard core yet, and I'm really enjoying psych (for like the 2 classes I was there for) because they're reviewing the brain which is exactly that I want to get into. I've only been to one chem class so far (don't know how many there have been) and I think most of it was review :S. Oh well, I'm going home later today with Sanjee on the GO bus and I'm going to buy myself the LOUDEST ALARM EVER that won't stop beeping until I leave the room to go to the washroom. I wish there was such thing.....*nudge nudge* someone invent the damn thing! I can't wait to get home and hopefully see you guys again. Even though it's only been two weeks (not even?) since I've seen you guys, it's still so overwhelming not seeing some of you everyday and gossiping about stupid things that have travelled and got twisted through the grapevine. It's also very overwhelming at first on how fast and how much information some of the lectures give you. I'm sure I mentioned bio earlier in some post..well, I missed bio class yesterday MEANING I probably missed entire chapter 3...right now we're learning about proteins and amino acids (the stuff that I DON'T like learning). Plus I missed chem too and we learnt all of chapter 7 almost last class (on quantum mechanics) and yea, I'm going down the shit hole people!!!!!!!!

Rush rush rush

It's crazy how everything is going soooo fast in university. The days just seem to slip away and I just feel like I'm already starting to get behind in classes. I just hope that I wake up in time in the future so I don't miss any more classes =S. Things have been kindof confusing too, it's hard to explain, but I'm sure my closer friends would know what I'm talking about (or whoever I might have told it to).
Went to go see Exorcism of Emily Rose tonight, it was alright and it wasn't scary at all!!! I was shocked at how UNscary it was. Um...nothing much else happened that I would like to disclose in this blog so I'll see you all later!!!

K-OS

The K-OS concert wasn't too too bad but the opening act was just horrible. I don't even remember who it was, but it was some black guy. He didn't do much with the acoustic guitar that he used and everything he played was drowned out by the extremely loud bass. Plus his songs weren't too good either (not that I could hear any of his lyrics because of the extremely loud bass). Supposedly he sang a lot about porn. We waited in line for about half an hour and then when we finally got in, it took a little while longer for the opening act to begin. The opening act took about an hour of my life away and then waiting for K-OS took about 45 minutes. K-OS just had a really strong stage presence followed by an awesome bass player, followed by an awesome guitarist, and then followed by an awesome DJ. The whole thing just made you want to listen to him more (not like the opening act where some people were actually sitting down). Speaking of which, I thought people were really stupid for sitting down, especially if they're surrounded by hundreds of people standing. I mean, people behind those standing right in front of the sitting people can't see them sitting there, and if there's rush to the stage for, let's say, free stuff, then they're just going to get majorly trampled. Anyways, we didn't stay for the whole concert and left for some pizza. All in all, I would give that concert a 7/10 just because of the awesome DJ and guitarist and bass player during K-OS' performance and also the person(s) I was with. Great fun =). Classes start again tomorrow and I'm really not looking forward to it at all.

Classes

So classes started on Thursday and yesterday I kindof missed both of my classes because they were in the morning and I went clubbing that night until almost 3 am. The club we went to was Club 77 and I got an all-ages ticket for it. What they do to separate the underage people from the 19+, is to draw a giant X on each other with a sharpie. The thing was, in the girl's bathroom all of the girls in there were wiping it off with no problem. The club consisted mostly of brown people and Sanjee and I met an old friend....anyone remember Prasath? But yea, he's a little rounder than before and he was already drunk when we got there.
On Friday, I went on a bus with a friend and we just wandered downtown Hamilton. It was a lot of fun and I learnt some more about the bus routes in Hamilton (which are actually better than the TTC). Afterwards, we went to the hypnotist show starting Mike Mendel, who I believe is doing a tour around all the different campuses for frosh week since I believe two other people mentioned he was performing. It was really awesome seeing these people do all this stuff and not remember a thing. There was this one guy who was really drastic with everything and we kindof stalked behind him to see his reaction when he got outside. When we were still inside the gym he was like, "man, I thought there was going to be a show but I guess ther was only one! That really sucks!!" and while he was talking, people kept doing this impression that Mendel did that would scare the crap out of everyone. He flinched everytime he saw that and he had no idea why. Once he got outside of the gym, he said, "OMG!! I WAS on stage!!! Wow, it's all coming back to me now..." There was this other guy who Mendel kept picking on and it was soooo hilarous. (ex. "Why did you push me man? Do you think it's funny?!?!"...did he do this in any of the other shows?) After that was over we were trying to find a kegger happening at some street but I think the cops got to it way before we got there (which was around 2).
Tonight is the K-OS Concert and I'll probably be going to that, I hope it's a lot of fun. I can't believe Welcome Week is over, I got so sick of it in the middle of the week but now that it's over I don't want classes to start. Speaking of classes, my algebra course is really pissing me off right now. I HAD to buy a new book because the ISBN number was different and I had to spend another extra $40 for this book. Argh!! I just hope this year doesn't suck...

Quick Update

Just to bring you up to date from my last entry, the Sam Roberts concert sucked, and we left for a while. Afterwards, we went back when he left and watched the Longest Yard starring Adam Sandler (I think I made him shit himself! hahaha).
***
So later on today will be the start of my classes! My earliest classes are at 8:30 on Mondays and Wdnesdays so I'm not too worried about not waking up on time.
Today, there was Clubfest, MSU Airbands, PJ Parade and a Comedy Festival. I missed some Clubfest this morning because I slept in but for the most part there were just lots of tables with lots of different clubs to check out. I signed up for a couple of them and I guess only time and amount of committment will tell if I want to be in those clubs. Also, I want to try out for Varsity Badminton so I'm a little bit stoked for that. The MSU Airbands was also pretty interesting. What happens is that the different tribs and faculties have their own little group that acts/dances to music on a stage while 5 judges judge how well they do. Most of them were pretty creative and sent a message of how to make mac yours. The PJ Parade (a.k.a. the Kissing Parade) was a lot of fun. It turns out that the flip flops that I bought from Ardene's weren't as comfortable as I thought they would be. But anyways, for the parade, the first years walk along the streets for about an hour and people actually stand by the curb to recieve kisses from us! It was a lot of fun and I got a puff of smoke from a hooka (sp?) in my face this one time. Most of the people were pretty drunk already so it was a little bit uncomfortable sometimes because they smelt pretty bad. After that, I went home and finally broke open my box of instant noodles.
The Comedy Festival was HILARIOUS and I'm still amazed at all the funny stand-up material that these people have. This one guy, Scott Something, kept swearing which was funny but sometimes it was a little bit over excessive. After THAT was done, I watched Mr. and Mrs. Smith and here I am!! Now I'm really tired and got about 6 hours of sleep =).

See you all later!!
*follow the beaver, beaver, beaver, follow the beaver!* *clap clap clap*

Let's Get A Little Bit Pyscho! S-C-I-C-O!

Today was Faculty Day where you spend time with your faculty (Science) instead of your tribe (SOCS). I met a lot of people but I was so tired that I didn't really want to participate in a lot of the cheering. There was this one game that we played in different teams where we had to tie clothes together to form the longest line. The clothes however had to be provided by the team, and most people just took off their socks and shoes. I knew that we weren't going to win that way so I decided to be one of two people to actually use their pants. I had on my faculty shirt which was a medium which covered my butt so I wasn't too scared of showing off my underwear. In the end, we ranked second out of all the teams. Oh, I forgot to mention that the way they made the teams was that they give you an element before this introductory thingy they had in a lecture room. I got Tantalum (number 73) and we had the suckiest cheer EVER. It was T-AAAAA, T-AAAAA, Tantalizing Tantalum! Bad eh?
I learnt some more cheers today for our faculty like:

SINE! SINE! COSINE! SINE! 3.14159! WOOO!!

and other cheers like:

STEP TO THE LEFT! STEP TO THE RIGHT! GO EQUILIBRIUM! FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!

o yea, they're all pretty nerdy cheers hehe.

Welcome Week

So far, I'm not having too much fun for Welcome Week. Today was the first day and I didn't really meet a lot of new people (unforcibly anyways). Because I'm living off campus, I'm part of the tribe called SOCS (Society of Off-Campus Students). I was really excited and interested because the reps had a lot of enthusiasm, but it was really hard to meet new people for some reason. Sometimes it just comes naturally to start talking to someone, but I just seem to be an outcast. This isn't a really good start to my Welcome Week but I hope that it gets better. The schedule for today was: SOCS Off Campus connection, BBQ lunch, Carnival, MAC Connector then SOCS Social at the Quarters Pub. For most of it, I talked to some people and the Mac Connector was the big event that made all the tribes meet each other and hopefully for the students to meet new people. I did meet a lot of people, but after the event was over, it was just the same as before (to me anyways). The Mac Connector ended about 7:30 and by the time people got settled it was about 8, so the SOCS people started heading towards the Quarters Pub. The place was pretty awesome but the one guy that I was talking to kindof ditched me to sit with these other people. At first I didn't really think much about it because I saw him chatting with them earlier that day. I sat at a table with these two other girls and I was having a good time talking to them but they wanted to leave because they were meeting some people. I too didn't really want to stay because I wasn't really having a good time at all and I just walked home alone. Came home, ate lots of pasta and vegged on the couch. I think I ate so much that I almost puked, but I don't really want to forcibly make myself vomit because that will only lead to bad and terrible things. I just hope that tomorrow is a more exciting day and to finally meet some people! The problem is that a lot of the SOCS people already know each other and you can already see all the different groups. I just don't feel like I fit into any of them.
In other news, the two "troll" girls still haven't moved in yet and I'm starting to think that they're probably going to move in during next weekend.

Moving Day Part 2

So now I am officially moved in to my new house. I think my room looks great; I just need to put up the rest of up hot hot posters and it's all done! I even have a coke clock to set the mood of the room. Still getting used to my surroundings though. I met one of my other house mates (John: he's big and could possibly be a bouncer or something) and of course Matt who owns the place. There are still two girls that live in the basement (we call them "troll girls") and I still need to meet them. My parents bought a lot of food for me and just for me. I feel bad having all that food so I think in the end I'm going to be sharing it with the rest of the house.
In other news....the gas prices are KILLING ME!!! And I'm wearing my New Orleans shirt that I got with Robyn last April. It just makes me remember the good times we had in New Orleans and how so many other schools won't experience something like this again because of Katrina and the horrible looting and stuff. Some police officers are actually quitting because they feel like they're not making any progress!!!Bye bye New Orleans!!

Moving Day Part 1

I moved all the Ikea furniture today into my new room and it took me and my mom about 5 hours to clean the entire room from top to bottom and build all of the furniture. I'm surprised that I didn't leave with any splinters (none that I could feel anyways)and I only got a few scratches from board corners. Tomorrow I move all my electronics, books, etc. and sleep there. It felt kindof strange at my grandparents' tonight for dinner because they kept saying that this was the first time I "moved out" of the house and it does kindof make me sad. My walls are a little barren because I took down some posters to bring to Hamilton with me (and hopefully to FINALLY put up my Johnny Depp and two other Aragorn posters that I have). I told Sanjee I was going to help him with his move-in on Saturday into his DORM ROOM and then I have to go find the bookstore to buy my lots o' textbooks.
I missed going to the beach today with people and I'm kindof sad. It seemed like they were having so much fun!! I hope we can do something like this next year since we're getting out of university by the end of April.
