Toronto Regatta

Best. Regatta. Ever.

The last two days were the best days I have ever had on the island. There was so much love everywhere between the team members and we got to bond so much. I lost my voice for a little while this morning from cheering so much but it was all worth it. Erin got us bars of soap from a dance competition (judged by how loud the cheering was).
For the actual races, Mac-Row-Ni got fourth place for the university cup but we took second place for the community I division. Which was a great improvement supposedly from last year when the Mac-Row-Ni team was in Division Q (the divisions go from A to U; fastest teams to slowest respectively).
Tons of pictures and videos that I want to show you guys, but none of them are mine so I can't! Sorry! Hopefully I will get some awesome ones and I will post those on here.
The regatta spanned over the entire weekend and on the first day, I met up with Tiffany and we went to the beach where we tanned...and tanned and finally got burnt. My back is a little bit tingly still and hopefully it'll fade to a nice brown (cross my fingers!). Sunday it was a little bit colder so I didn't go to the beach. I had to change out of my bathing suit and into clothes for dinner but I didn't want to wait for the washroom. I ended up getting my sister to wrap and hold a towel around me while I changed out of it...it required a lot of maneuvering (more than I'm used to).
Sunday night we had our team dinner and we went to the Casey's on Front Street. We stuffed ourselves and for our table (there were 3) our bill came up to about $250.
I loved it, and I'm sad that it's over. Hopefully everyone will be at the dragonboat party because I miss the team already!

Best Weekend Ever!

I had SO much fun the past couple of days when Kyle visited and I can't believe he's gone again.
We kept busy when he was here (Friday to Wednesday) by:
- Going to Wonderland (short but bitchin')
- Watched X-men 3 and Cars: Both were great movies in their own ways
- Went to Hamilton (twice!): First to pick up Kyle's PS2 and the second time to pick up his laptop which we could've technically picked up the same day we picked up his PS2.
- Walked around Yorkdale: It was so clean! And the Rainforest Cafe was crazy (expensive!). We also saw Cars at the Famous Players there...really nice screens.
- Went out to eat everywhere: Casey's, East Side Marios, and even lunch with my grandparents!
- Stayed in a lot: It was great just hanging out and cooking some good meals (with M&M food!)

It was sad to see him go but it was so awesome seeing him at all. Today was a little bit rough because I made him almost late for his bus by getting lost downtown and then getting more lost by trying to find the right streets. I got so pissed off at all the pedestrians, I just wanted to run them over! Kyle's such an amazing guy for putting up with me =P. Hopefully he got back safely and he's not mad at me.
Back to work tomorrow.

M&Ms

Wow, the weeks have been going by pretty fast all of a sudden, especially now that I'm working at the awesomest place ever.
I know it's a meat shop, but they got desserts, self-serving lunches, fries and ice-cream too! And if the package is damaged, then I guess we, as the product consultants (because that's what our job title is) will just have to eat it ourselves, boohooo.
It's been a blast working there too. The customers are always nice and they were all pretty patient with me if/when I struggled to remember which door their order was in. I also enjoyed working at the cashier. It's pretty simple with M&Ms I find because...(for those of you who have a box of M&M stuff at home, look now!) there's a number in a circle on the side of the box and that's all we press in!
Tiff came to visit me too which was fun, except she didn't buy anything there (although she got me an ice cap from Timmy's that was next door! thank you! heehee!).
So everybody! Next time I'm working is 1-5 pm this Sunday so come and I'll give you a 15% discount on meat! And desserts! And fries! And delicious delicious ice cream!
On another note, Kyle's coming next weekend!

Soaked

Yesterday was the Pickering Regatta for dragonboat and it was interesting to say the least.
First and foremost, it was puking rain and it wouldn't stop. It went from heavy rain to even heavier rain. Luckily, a bunch of us brought tents so we could get some shelter but it didn't help us for the cold wind. The tents eventually got pretty wet on the inside too since we were all soaked from racing in the pouring rain.
Secondly, EVERYTHING got soaked. We tried to consolidate space by putting all of the bags into the closed tents so they wouldn't get wet and stay in the bigger tents that didn't have protection around the sides. We ended up standing outside anyways, I didn't do a lot of sitting at all at that regatta. My clean/dry clothes eventually got wet after I changed because it was still pouring rain and I (being me) forgot my umbrella.
After all that, we all went to eat at East Side Marios where I ended up eating $18 worth of food, where $5 of those dollars went to a huge bowl of strawberry ice cream.
On the good side of that day though, there was a lot of team bonding and I really love them all! We also did pretty well considering we only practice once a week on the water and we have never really done any weight training. I also got my uniform today which was great! I felt like we were all part of a awesome team since we all had awesome uniforms. Plus they're not big baggy tshirts that weight you down if they get drenched in water.

Too HOT!!

I'm back in Toronto and I've been trying to sleep in my room for the past couple of hours. I just can't do it! It's gross when you just come out of the shower and you go to your room and you don't know if you're sweating or still wet from the shower :S. Because of this, I have decided to spend some quality time in the basement updating my blog and hopefully lowering my body heat just a little bit.

I start work tomorrow!err...technically today in less than 8 hours! I'm excited..I just hope the owner there will let me have the next couple of saturdays off because of dragonboat and Kyle possibly coming up.
