Skin Deep

Odd looks, stares, whispers in the background. Just some of the things that I experienced when I went up with Kyle to his home this weekend. We experience it all the time in Toronto; these weird glances and unacceptance to people before actually knowing them, but some how, it just hurt more when I was up there. Kyle's family was really nice to me and they want me to come up again. It seems as though they would rather hate change than to embrace it; to actually talk to me and see me for who I really am instead of just what my skin colour is. There was also a lot of smoking and drinking. Probably about 90% of the garbage you see on the ground are beer bottles and cigarrette butts. I can see now how Kyle got that bad habit, although I'm trying to make him stop. The age gap between different generations is also much smaller than I thought; Kyle's grandmother is just a couple of years older than my parents, and his parents were shocked when I told them how old my grandparents were (more like they were shocked that they were still alive).
But to be honest, the small trip was really nice. The air smelt clean and the scenery was beautiful; at night time, you could still see the stars even though the sky was cloudy. We arrived in Sudbury at 5:45 in the morning and Kyle took his aunt's van and drove him and I to his house. I finally saw a live hockey game (and Kyle was in it yay!) and it was so thrilling! Kyle was a little rusty (falling-for-no-reason rusty) but by the second game he was doing a lot better. Plus he didn't look that bad all geared up =P. Oh! And there was a hockey fight too in there, which was also very thrilling but I tried to hide it since I didn't want his mom to think I was some sadistic freak. There was a birthday party for his dad that night and I met less than half of the family (aunts, cousins, uncles, etc.) and the family filled up an entire house! Afterwards, I had my first bottle of beer, it tasted horrible but I kindof got used to it. We then went to another party where lots of Kyle's highschool friends were (he was in the popular crowd in high school...and I'm still shocked that he liked me enough to date me) and I was kindof left alone after a while. They didn't really make any small talk with me and I was already passed my "social stage" in my drunkeness; in other words, if they didn't come up to talk to me, I didn't bother talking to them. Kyle stopped trying to introduce me to people and left me for a bit to hang out with them and have a cigarette and I was kindof left alone by mylself. Eventually I ended up sleeping on the couch in the room and when I woke up, the lights were turned off and no one was there. I thought everyone had left me and I was about to go leave the house when Kyle's brother found me. He told me that the street that the house was on was really dangerous because some people would come out of the trees on the sides of the street and jump you.
We woke up around 7 the next morning (Kyle went out again after we left the party to go to another party with his aunts) and we were both so exhausted; Kyle especially. He was still drunk from the night before and you could just smell the alcohol radiating from him (which was kindof funny).
Now we're back in Hamilton....yay.

Out...side?

For the past couple of weeks, outside has been only a fantasy. Other than the occasional walking to class and going to Kyle's res, I have been stuck in my room studying for horrible tests like physics and biology. Mind you, I don't find biology that horrible except I didn't have TIME to study for it due to physics (which IS horrible!).
I went to go see a musical yesterday that was created by the McMaster Engineers. Why did I, a science student, decide to go? Because Kyle's roommate was in it, and it's kindof hard to say no to your roommate. The musical was alright, except for a few out of tune notes and blaring voices. There was this one guy who sat on the second floor of the theatre who shouted something stupid or pointless everytime there was a blackout. A little bit after the intermission, I saw two guys carrying someone out of the theatre and I thought that that was rather peculiar. Right after I saw them though, the annoying voices stopped so I'm going to assume that the loud obnoxious guy puked and passed out. A couple of minutes later a couple of guys went up there with giant rolls of paper towel and buckets....I wonder what they're trying to clean up. Hmmm...
I have one more test, two more presentations, and two more labs to get through and then I'll be home free...to study for exams. I'm still stressing about getting a summer job also...does anyone want to hook me up with any? *wink wink*

Posting Finally!

Alright, so it's been forever since I posted, but really, there hasn't been much up. Reading week was awesome, I played badminton, met a lot of woburnites and uh....went shopping =P. Came back, loads of work to do and now I got a whole lot of work piled up that I need to start on. I'm disappointed that I won't be able to go back to Woburn to watch the English plays (because I'm sure they will be AWESOME!).
I went to the "big" hamilton mall on the weekend, Limeridge Mall, to return some stuff that I bought, but it took me until we got to Limeridge to realize that I didn't have the stuff on me...so I have to go back next weekend (darn!). I saw Final Destination 3 on that day too, it was....alright, it was pretty gruesome but when you see the first death, you just want more..more!!! The ways the people died were pretty creative but some of the things that lead up to a death are just impossible. How can a heavy cannon ball fall off of a stable pyramid of cannonballs and roll like 50 feet on bumpy grass to have enough force to knock over a 10 inch piece of wood that's stabilized by a (at least) 5 ton cart full of heavy fireworks? But I did enjoy watching those barbie dolls fry in that tanning salon (even though I heard it's not possible to get fried in a tanning salon).
Anyhoozles, ONWARD TO CHEMISTRY!!
